Your assumption is correct, under 2 hours vomiting MUST always be induce when a toxic material has been or is suspected of being ingested. The problem with mouse/rat poisoning is that it is quantity dependent, if he ingested too much, no amount of vitamin K will save him unfortunately, and it is still too soon to know as some of those poisoning have a delayed action mechanism which means they can start working 2-3 weeks after ingestion. You must continue the vitamin K at home for at least 3 weeks and hope for the best.

Yes, it appears to be safe for dogs and cats. From the website: "It coats the lining of a part of the rodent’s lower gut. This coating of the “fine hairs” in the lower gut, called villi, disrupts the message system to the rodents brain causing it to stop drinking. I would still recommend that you place it in areas where your pets do not have access, and certainly not allow them to eat large quantities of this as it could cause vomiting and diarrhea.

I would be concerned that Willow ingested a rat that had ingested some poison previously. Some poisons may cause more problems than others when ingested secondarily. The other possibility is that Willow feels sick from eating the rat itself. If her digestive tract is not used to ingesting fur and bones she may be feeling sick from that. It would really be best to have Willow checked out as soon as possible by a veterinarian. They can assess blood work to make sure she is not anemic (as some rat poison can cause this) and also make sure she is not showing other signs of toxicity. Regardless of the dose ingested, it is recommended to at the very least start then on vitamin k which can help tremendously if in fact Roxy got anywhere near her toxic dose. This is an inexpensive and easy to implement therapy. She is not at a point that any effects are expected as it is too early in the course for that. I recommend that you have Roxy evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They could check her out and treat her accordingly. Good luck and have a great day!

If she wasn't showing any signs of toxicity and started vitamin K right away, then most cases would do just fine. Also, it sounds like she didn't ingest enough to cause toxic effects if the company is correct. If you want to feel even more certain (in terms of amount ingested) you can call Animal Poison Control if you know the exact brand/concentration of the bait she ingested, then they can calculate the toxic dose needed to cause symptoms. There are a couple things you should be concerned about, if your dog is not vaccinated then leptospirosis is a concern as Rats carry it and it is a serious disease in dogs (affecting the kidneys and liver). the main second concern is rat poison, if the rate ingested rat poison in the past couple weeks, then your dog could be poisoned too, these poisons are usually blood thinner which cause an animal to bleed to death, often it has a delayed action and the treatment for that is vitamin K, which must be given by your vet by injection first.
