Why is my unspayed female cat crying and acting like her rear hurts?

If she an older, or neutered cat, this behaviour could be a sign of hind legs or abdominal discomfort. In that case, you should take your Catu to your local vets for a check.

It is pssibel she is displaying signs of being in heat - I recommend you video the episodes and show them to your vet for analysis. If not, a pelvic xray during an episode would be advised in order to identify a source of the pain or any evidence of constipation, anal gland disease or other anomalies

Other possible causes are: she sees other cats outside (territorial), anxiety (cats outside, starting heat, changes to house hold), attention seeking, or medical issue. I would close the blinds temporarily, provide environmental enrichment (cat trees, interactive cat toys, lazer pointer, play with her) and consider spaying her. You can also consider a Vet exam to be sure it isn't a medical condition. If she is otherwise fine, I hope that is improves with time and some of the above. Have a great day!

If you are seeing liquid from the anus, I would be concerned she could have diarrhea or her anal sacs could be full, in which case I would recommend a veterinary exam. It could be that Misty is in heat! Being more vocal, and lifting her butt up with her tail to the side are signs of heat. If she isn't spayed, that's the more likely explanation for her behavior. If you don't want kittens, I would keep her indoors and away from intact male cats, and have her spayed once her heat is over in three weeks.

It sounds as though Lucy is likely in heat. Unspayed female cats go into heat fairly frequently through the spring and summer months. During this time they often vocalize loudly, display behavioral changes and sometimes have a noticeable vaginal discharge. During this time, be sure to keep Lucy inside and away from any intact male cats, or schedule an appointment to have her spayed to avoid any unwanted pregnancies.

It is possible that Kaleo is going into heat. Cats can go into heat from six months of age, but it can occur sooner. Going into heat would cause this behavior. If you don't want her to have kittens, I recommend keeping her indoors at times unless her heat is over (usually one to two weeks), and I would then have her spayed after the heat passes to prevent this behavior in the future and to keep her from having kittens.
