My 8-month-old cat is vocal, butt up, tail to side. Is she in pain?

If Misty has not yet been spayed, recurrent vocalization (particularly through the spring/early summer) is likely to continue. It could just be that Astro is happy. It could also be that Astro is getting ready to go into heat. Most cats who are in heat will exhibit a specific body posture called lordosis. It could be possible that Panda is in heat causing these symptoms you are seeing displayed. In the spring time, cats cycle quickly, and they go out of heat for a time period as short as one to two weeks. It could be she is going in and out of heat. Of course because I can't see her in person, I can't say this for certain, and there is a possibility that she may have pain in her back or hips causing this behavior. To be safe, I do think a visit with the vet is best just to make sure everything is ok. In my opinion, it's better to pay the fee to see a find and find nothing wrong, than not visit the vet and have it be something serious. Best of luck!

I am thinking that she may be in heat? 6 months is about average for a cats first heat. The cat can cry and kind of army crawl around. They also stick their hind end in the air and when you tap their lower back they cry and stick up their hind end. If this isn't what she is doing please repost with specifics. I hope this helps!

It is quite likely she is in heat, especially if she is also calling or shouting loudly. If you do not want kittens, be sure to keep her indoors and isolated from any unneutered male cats until you can have her spayed
