How to soothe my cat's impacted anal gland pain before the vet?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 11 years and 3 months old | 9 lbs

I want to give my cat relief until she gets to the vet. she has an impacted anal gland. I dont think its opened yet. I can tell shes in pain. Also should i let her lick it?

There is no safe over the counter medication for cats. You can try to apply a warm compress to help alleviate some discomfort. You can let her lick it, but it will likely rupture from her messing with it, and this may relieve some pressure. If that happens, you can try to flush is with a little water, but be careful this may be uncomfortable and she may not let you do it. I would try to get her to a vet in the morning because it will need antibiotics to get well completely
