Why isn't my senior cat covering her urine? Bladder infection signs?

I'm so sorry that Cleo is having these problems. Since you mentioned that she is hyperthyroid, I would be sure to check her thyroid level and her blood pressure. If either is high, it could be responsible for the behavioral changes that you are noticing. I would also recommend checking a urine sample since urinary tract infections are common in older female cats to make sure that isn't playing a role in her sudden changes. I am sorry to hear about your concern for Dixie. We could have numerous possible causes for her symptoms, some easily treatable and others more complicated. We could see these signs with a urinary tract infection, cystitis (inflammation of the bladder), bladder stones, tumors of the bladder, and kidney disease. We can also see increased thirst and urination with things like Diabetes and Hyperthyroidism. I would recommend getting Dixie in to the vet as soon as possible for an exam and blood and urine testing to help determine the cause of her issue and start treatment.

It sounds like Belle has blood in her urine. This could be due to bacterial infection, idiopathic cystitis, crystals in the urine or bladder stones. Belle needs to go to the veterinarian tomorrow to get her urine checked. These conditions are uncomfortable so the doctor will give her pain medications and treatment. It could be a urinary infection or a bladder inflammation it could also be coming from the anal area which would make me suspect of a gastrointestinal issue. either way i would strongly advise to take her to the vet ASAP in order to get it treated.

I recommend that she has a urine culture performed to ensure there is an infection present and the correct antibiotic is prescribed. If there is not an infection or if it has resolved, then she should have x-rays to look for bladder stones. If this is not the case, idiopathic cystitis is very common in cats. I recommend that you check and make sure that she is drinking enough water. Sometimes using several water bowls throughout the house is helpful. Another way to stimulate her to eat canned food which is high in water content. Good luck!
