Why is my cat peeing blood in the bathtub and avoiding her litter box?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | spayed | 7 years and 4 months old | 9 lbs

I have a 7 year old female cat. She has been spayed. The last few weeks we have found where she had peed on my parents bed twice. We have that shut her out of there. Now she is using my bath tub. There is a red tinge in her urine

It sounds like Belle has blood in her urine. This could be due to bacterial infection, idiopathic cystitis, crystals in the urine or bladder stones. Belle needs to go to the veterinarian tomorrow to get her urine checked. These conditions are uncomfortable so the doctor will give her pain medications and treatment. Most cats will generally go back to using the litter box once the infection is cleared. I hope she starts feeling better soon!
