My senior cat is leaking urine. What causes it and what can I do?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 lbs

My 14 year old cat has started to leak a small amount of urine when she gets up sometimes she is an indoor cat on decent food. She doesn't seem to be aware that it happens is there anything I can do? Her litter box is cleaned daily and she isn't having trouble or seem to be in pain when going to the bathroom.

I strongly recommend you source urine collection cat litter and submit a urine sample for analysis to rule out crystals, infection, inflammation or diabetes all of which can aggravate incontinence. Acupuncture may help if no medical complications are identified
