Can my senior cat have a coconut milk vanilla protein shake?

Almond milk isn’t toxic, and a small amount would be okay occasionally. Some cats have sensitive stomachs and anything outside of their normal food can cause diarrhea. I also wouldn’t recommend giving any milk with sugar or other sweeteners.

It is not harmful at all but can cause occasional diarrhoea and gastrointestinal upset. I would recommend NOT to give it as it is not beneficial and does not add anything special if diet is already balanced and complete. Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Cats cannot consume chocolate as they do not break down theobromine and caffeine the same way we do. Cats break these chemicals down much slower then we do. When given, these chemicals can negatively affect the central nervous system as well as the cardiovascular system. Here is a list of potential side effects of consuming chocolate in cats: Tachycardia and arrythmias Vomiting Diarrhea Seizures Tremors Lethargy Death Not to mention, the fat and sugar in chocolate can cause pancreatitis. I am sorry to hear of Honey's dietary indiscretion! I can imagine this is very stressful for you. I do not see anything in the ingredient list that immediately concerns me as a toxin. Without knowing how much Honey actually ate it is difficult to know what to expect. I would monitor her carefully do signs of gastrointestinal upset such as vomiting or diarrhea. If you notice changes in her energy levels that would also be concerning. If you notice any of these symptoms, or anything else that concerns you then please do not hesitate to contact your veterinarian.

If it was just a very small amount of coconut milk, then your cat will likely be ok. Tell your grandma to wash off the coconut milk next time before feeding the fish to your cat as it can cause digestive problems and pancreatitis in a cat.
