Can I give my cat milkshakes or sweet treats? Are they safe for her?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Dogs typically do not have a complete intolerance to dairy, but as it is not a mainstay of their dietary needs, it can cause GI upset. I typically do not recommend giving dogs straight milk, and lower sugar ice creams can have artificial sugars (such as xylitol) which are toxic to dogs. Regular ice cream or cheese can be fine in small amounts but it based on each individual animal. If you want to give your dog anything dairy as a small treat, only start with one thing in very small amounts to see how Brody tolerates it and ensure he doesn't develop any vomiting/diarrhea.

My opinion is if Jhumru doesn't get sick from milk then there is no reason to stop, but watch for any signs of an upset stomach. Hello, and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Small bits of cooked chicken can be a good treat for a cat, but I would stay away from the other foods you mentioned. None of those foods are dangerous, but cheese and milk can cause diarrhea and GI upset, and crackers & bread are not very nutritious for cats. Better to stick with little bits of cooked meat. While it doesn’t sound like there would be anything toxic in a coconut milk and vanilla protein shake, I also wouldn’t think it would be good for him. If Lucky is otherwise healthy with no underlying medical problems it is probably okay to have a lick or two. If there are other ingredients you may want to post a picture of the label - things like caffeine can sometimes be in these shakes and could be toxic if enough is ingested.

Some do handle certain dairy products ok while others develop tummy upset (vomit and diarrhea). If you want to give Bruno dairy products start with small amounts to see how he handles it.
