Is Pro-Sense dewormer safe for my cat? Is piperazine harmful?

Just about all veterinary approved dewormers are safe to use in debilitated or elderly cats; however I would recommend either Pyrantel Palmoate OR Fenbendazole . If you were looking for more herbalistic product recommendations, then I highly recommend sticking with what works and is well tested. A lot of the all natural dewormers either don't work or are really harsh on the system, especially in cats, so I can't recommend using any of these.

If you are concerned about the dewormer, submit a stool sample to your veterinarian first. If it is negative, Peabody may not need deworming. In general, dewormers are safe even in geriatrics patients.

The Prosense Dewormer packaging label says for kittens under 6 weeks of age give 1/4 teaspoon per 2.5 lbs and is not recommended for kittens under 2.5 lbs. I would ask your veterinarian for another medication that can be used in small kittens (such as pyrantel). The anti-diarrhea medication from Nutri-Vet is okay to give. Kittens are frequently born with roundworms. This is not uncommon. They get roundworms through their mother during pregnancy and during nursing. I hope this helps!

Puppies and kittens need a series of repeated deworming medications. And even if they have been dewormed, it is common for them to have other intestinal parasites since there are so many different types of parasites and they each require a specific type of deworming. What you are describing is likely tapeworms, so hopefully the tapeworm medication will work. Yes it ia sbsolutely ok to treat her for fleas. I would use a spot on such as Advantage or frotnline Plus or similar spot ons. and you can get some Pyrantel Pamoate from your veterinarian to worm her (it is a liquid, that does not taste terrible) or a Drontal for cats tablet.

Depending on the type of worms, many very easily available treatment options efficiently treat these type of infections. Side effects can be present in very rare cases, but nothing that can lead to death as far as I am aware. Panacur for example is an excellent product that can treat most common gastrointestinal parasitic infections. Frend is so handsome, and he's so lucky that you have allowed yourselves to be adopted. Using a deworming treatment is an excellent idea, especially since he lives outdoors. I would recommend using Drontal or Panacur. You can get them from the vet (it would be a good idea to get him checked out by the vet, get him vaccines as well), and they are safe.
