Should I give my pregnant cat store-bought milk near her due date?

If she isn't making milk then you need to bottle feed the kittens every 2-3 hours with kitten milk replacer. Once she gives birth you can try to put the kittens on her. Just be sure they aren't pushing her kittens off. Track the weights of her kittens to be sure they are getting enough. I wish you the best!

Hello. Make sure your Momma cat has a quiet, safe & secure area to have her kittens, away from noise, other pets, & weather. You can begin feeding her a good kitten food ( dry or canned ) and continue the kitten food up until the kittens are weaned . This will give her extra calories to maintain her pregnancy & provide plenty of rich milk for her kittens. She will probably not leave her babies for the first couple of days, so make sure her litter box, food & water are close by. I would feed her wet/canned kitten food during the last three weeks of pregnancy so she hass enough nutrition for making her babies grow properly. Oncee she has given birth you can keep feeding her the kitten food, so there will be an easy transition when the kittens will start to eat solid food at around 6 weeks. Find homes for them now, but do not give them away before they are 12 weeks old, as they will still need mama to teach them to be good kitties, to hunt, what is safe, what is not, etc. They will also need their siblings to play and play hunt and get coordination.

At this point in her pregnancy, you should feed her kitten food. If she does turn out to not be pregnant, it will not hurt her to feed the kitten food right now. You will feed her this diet until the kittens are weaned and no longer dependent upon her for milk. The dry cat food is just fine for her. Do not give her anything like milk as this may upset her stomach. You should also talk to your veterinarian about deworming her for parasites. Some dewormers are safe to use in pregnancy and others are not so you will want to check what you have available with your local products. Please feel free to post any additional questions.

Pregnancy can be a very stressful time for animals, and it may be hard for your cat to be separate from her previous offspring. However, my recommendation would be to separate him from her so that he cannot suckle/breastfeed from her before her kittens are born. The milk produced at the beginning of lactation is very antibody-rich and important for the brand new kittens to ingest. There is also the possibility that the previous offspring could out-compete the brand new kittens for nipples if they are left together. The new kittens will need the most care and nutrition from the very beginning, and if he is allowed to suckle from the mom, the newest kittens may not get all of the nutrition they need. If she is close to her due date, she could have stopped eating because she is ready to give birth. If not, then there may be other medical issues going on. Without an exam it is hard to say. I would offer her kitten food- canned and dry- and continue to monitor her. If she doesn’t eat for longer than 24 hours, I recommend taking her to a vet for an exam. She does look underweight, when was the cat she is nursing from pregnant? the milk will be sufficient only if the cat she is nursing from gave birth in the past few weeks, if not then you must feed her with kitten milk replacer which you can get from the pet shop.
