Your puppy is still a bit young for lots of training, he is still a baby. I suggest you book in to a puppy training class once his vaccinations are done. As for treats, it is not always necessary to give food treats. Praising is a great treat and works just as well, if not better. Yes you can giver her treats, preferably soft ones, there are many many options in pet shops, just take a look at the ingredients before you buy them, make sure they are made mainly from good quality meat.

he is very young to be fully trained yet, so do not get discouraged, most do not get it until closer to 4 months. If he is going to the bathroom in his kennel, then his kennel is too big. You need to make it smaller so he will not have that much room.. he needs enough space to stand up and turn 1 circle and lay down again. When you take him out, when goes, reward him with treats and praise. If he does not go, back in to the kennel--wait 5 minutes--outside to try again. Make sure you carry him outside as sometimes they get too excited they just can't make it all the way there on their own yet. As far as treats goes, you can try boiled chicken or yogurt or even cheerios and animal crackers to help encourage him since he is a picky eater. Praise can work well for some too if he prefers that over food.

A few general recommendations: stick with well known brands with a good reputation. Look for products made in the USA. Kibble works great for treats and I use Purina Pro Plan chicken or lamb and rice. Dry biscuit type treats usually have less calories and salt. The jerky or moist type treats are fine in moderation (they have more calories and salt usually). Lastly, many dogs really like dehydrated chicken livers and chicken jerky.
