Best training treats for 10-week-old puppy not eating kibble?

A few general recommendations: stick with well known brands with a good reputation. Look for products made in the USA. Kibble works great for treats and I use Purina Pro Plan chicken or lamb and rice. Dry biscuit type treats usually have less calories and salt. The jerky or moist type treats are fine in moderation (they have more calories and salt usually). Lastly, many dogs really like dehydrated chicken livers and chicken jerky. he is very young to be fully trained yet, so do not get discouraged, most do not get it until closer to 4 months. If he is going to the bathroom in his kennel, then his kennel is too big. You need to make it smaller so he will not have that much room.. he needs enough space to stand up and turn 1 circle and lay down again. When you take him out, when goes, reward him with treats and praise. If he does not go, back in to the kennel--wait 5 minutes--outside to try again. Make sure you carry him outside as sometimes they get too excited they just can't make it all the way there on their own yet. As far as treats goes, you can try boiled chicken or yogurt or even cheerios and animal crackers to help encourage him since he is a picky eater. Praise can work well for some too if he prefers that over food.

At 6 weeks of age, your puppy should be eating dog food. You could mix it with a little bit of water or puppy milk replacer to make it softer, if needed. Any type of dog treat would also be appropriate. You could look for a softer treat, like Lean Treats, as they would be easy to eat.

You can start giving Luffy treats for training from around six to eight weeks of age. I see that Tyson is still a puppy, only 4 months old :) Remember that he's just a baby - it's normal that he still needs lots of treats for training. If you want him to be able to listen when you don't have a treat, you first need to teach him that even if he doesn't see a treat in your hand, he will still get one - this means asking him to sit (or lie down, or whatever) with nothing in your hands, then praising and giving a treat from your pocket when he listens. Over time, he will learn that it's worth paying attention to you even if he doesn't see the treat beforehand. Eventually, you won't need to give a treat every time he does something - but don't rush this! He needs a long reward history of getting a treat when he listens to you before you can expect him to be reliable. Make a habit of carrying treats in your pocket all the time, so that you can always surprise him with a reward when he does what you ask. I would also highly recommend the book "Perfect Puppy in 7 Days" by Dr. Sophia Yin if you're having training issues with Tyson - it's a great resource for puppy training and behavior.

How about some boiled white meat chicken (no bones)? Puppies tend to love chicken, and that would be a good healthy treat for him to help him learn commands. You can also try some boiled low fat ground beef in small amounts. I hope this helps, good on you for working on training Scott!
