Is it okay if my picky cat only eats one type of food and rejects new?

As long as the diet he is eating us a balanced and complete diet appropriate for his age there is no reason to change it or offer variety unless he has a condition which may respond to specialist formulas such as kidney or skin disease. Variety tends to encourage picky eating so if he is doing well, continue with his preferred food

Often providing a wide variety of foods and flavors actually promotes picky eating. If they are otherwise well I recommend you pick a one flavor formulation of high quality brand sch as hills science plan or royal canin and put down one sachet at a time, adding more if this is eaten. Cats are grazing feeders and are likely to prefer little and often, as long a s a complete balanced dry food and fresh water is available at all times they should self regulate their own food intake. Be sure to have more feed and particularly water stations than you have cats to ensure there is no territorial bullying preventing any of them from eating when they would like to

It is completely fine to feed you cat only dry food if that is all she likes. If you want to give her canned food as an occasional treat any brand should be fine. I would recommend choosing a brand of food and sticking with it. Changing food frequently can lead to digestive upset and a picky eater. Personally I have several patients that seem to do well on Fancy Feast. As long as he is maintaining a healthy weight and does not have other health concerns I think it would be fine to continue to offer canned Fancy Feast. The foods without gravy tend to be lower in carbohydrates which might be better nutrition for cats, but again if he seems to be somewhat picky and has been underweight in the past you may want to stick with what he likes. It also might be a good idea to double check with your vet and see if they have other recommendations.

Hello, Cats can be very finicky eaters. Most truly healthy cats with no dental disease will not starve themselves of kibble if left with only that option. However, cats can seriously damage their liver if they go too long without eating, and some cats are both very finicky and very strong willed. Cats don't have an issue eating the same food. We, as pet parents, feel they "need" variety or they will become bored with as we would. In fact, frequent diet changes may lead to gastrointestinal upset or can create a finicky eater.
