Is Panacur safe if spilled on me? Can I put it on my kitten's food?

It would be impossible to get a small enough dose measured out for a 1.5 pound kitten, therefore, it is not recommended. You can, however, use the Panacur liquid but that needs to be given once a day for 3-5 days in a row and is rather expensive. It can be purchased over the counter. Follow the dosing recommendations on the bottle. If each packet treats a ten pound animal and yours is 6.5 lbs, you only need to use 65% of the packet. This will be difficult to do accurately by eye, so the best way to to do it would be to dilute the Panacur in water, which will allow you to better volumetrically dose out the medication. If you dilute the granules down to 10mL, you would give 6.5 mL for three consecutive days. Hope this makes sense.

Kittens dose of 0.5ml per 1kg body weight for 3 consecutive days. This is the dosage for the 10% panacur liquid suspension. 1kg = 2.2 lbs. 2.5 lbs = 1.3kg so at 0.5ml/kg you multiply 0.5 x 1.3 = 0.65 ml

Yes, you can try the Pro-kolin, but make sure you give it at least 1 hour after the Panacur so that it does not decrease the absorption of the Panacur. follow the label directions for cats & hopefully it will help to slow the diarrhea while the Panacur does its job to get rid of the Giardia. If you are seeing worms that look like rice, those are tapeworm segments. Panacur can kill some types of tapeworm, but the best drug for it is praziquantel. That is a prescription only drug, and a great brand that contains praziquantel is Drontal. You can try the Panacur, but you may have to go back to your vet to get Drontal. As long as you practice good hygiene (wash your hands after petting him, wash your hands after cleaning his litter box), you should be fine. I hope this helps!
