My new outdoor kitten cries at the door. What's the best thing to do?

This will depend on whether you want your kitty to be an indoor only cat or an indoor/outdoor cat. If you do not want him an outside cat you will just have to bear with it. He will eventually stop wanting to go out. You can also make a cat enclosure outside, so he can get at least the illusion of being outside. If you don't mind that your kitty goes outside, you can take him out for a walk in the yard or garden and then bring him in again. extend the trips every day. Make sure you do not free feed him then, but feed him canned food in the morning and evening calling him by name. That way he will come home when you call him. Make sure he stays inside at night.

Crying can be because he’s hungry, cold, or has to go potty. Make sure you are feeding him often enough with kitten milk replacer if he is not nursing his mother. Stimulating him to pee and poop with a warm damp cloth around his tail should be done several times a day to keep him regular. It can take your kitten a week or two to acclimate to its new surroundings. He has to get used to his new environment and used to the fact that he's not around his littermates and mother anymore. Just keep giving him plenty of attention and affection and he should be fine in no time.

You need to keep it warm, use blankets, fan or a hot-water bottle. Try to put her with the mum and see if he will feed from her. You should put his face right on the nipple and try to 'attach' him. If he is not able to feed from the mum you will have to syringe-feed or bottle-feed the kitten with a cat milk formula. Has she pooped? Mothers lick their rear ends to stimulate them to defecate. You may want to take a warm damp wash cloth and try to gently wash her rear end.
