My cat keeps crying at the door to go outside. What should I do?

I also really like a product called Feliway which helps to make cats feel more at ease in their environment. This is something you can easily get from your pet store or online. Forcing a kitten to live outdoors alone is cruel. He is afraid without mama and siblings and you should really take him inside for feeding and lovings. If you are not willing to do this you should find someone to give him this.

Unfortunately now she has been out it is very difficult to blunt this natural behavior. Providing climbing toys and other distractions can help but it may be easier to keep her 100% indoor or regular free access outdoors. Many people build secure, aviary type pens to provide safe, outdoor exercise areas

It sounds like a stressful time at your house. I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. It is very common for cats to want to explore their surroundings. This is especially true of in tact animals. Often, neutering a cat will make him less interested in escape. The crying and trying to escape will also be much worse if there is a female in heat anywhere in your neighborhood. If this is the case, It will not stop until her is neutered or the female cat leaves. If it’s really important that Lumi stay in your room, try making your room appealing by adding a cat tower or high shelf for him to climb up to, fun toys, a scratching post, or an indoor cat garden (potted edible plants that are safe for cats to eat). You should try giving Sunny environmental enrichment. Set aside 30 minutes to play with him every single day. Provide climbing opportunities such as shelving units and a tall cat tree. You can also find many interactive toys that can help. Lastly, you may try feeding him out of a kibble dispensing ball instead of a dish. This will stimulate his brain as well as give him physical activity. You must make sure however that he knows how to use it! Best of luck!

You may have to have him castrated which would likely make him less adamant to go out and look for girl cats, You may also have to just ignore him for a while (use ear plugs) and not let him out when he cries, so he realises that crying will not get you to let him out.

Since Jerry gets into fights when let outside I would definitely recommend keeping him as an indoor kitty. To help decrease his tendency to roam I would recommend having him neutered. You should also increase your interactions with him by doing things such as playing with a laser pointer and grooming him.
