My older cat is hiding and scared of our new kittens. What's wrong?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered

Hi, my cat is 2 year old and we got 2 new kittens the other day now my 2 yo cat is avoiding the family room and instead hides upstairs. He is also creeping round as if he is scared of them. The two new cats are 6 month old females if that helps.

This can be common when getting new cats, it takes time for the existing cat to adjust. Hiding is fine as long as Milo is eating and drinking as well as using the litter. I'd leave him be, he will come right soon.
