Why is my kitten suddenly scared of my older cat? Is it normal?

IT can be common for two cats to get along sometimes and not other just like children. The cats are working together to figure out perfect harmony in there environment. I would not be concerned unless you notice abnormal urination/defecation or you feel like the two cats are constantly fighting. IF they are having occasional disagreements that can just be normal pet behavior. If you feel the younger cat has a lot of energy I would recommend trying to increase play by hiding toys and treats around the house. Hope that helps

Poor girl! There could be something that has spooked her. Or she could be not feeling well. Or there could even be an internal conflict with another cat in the household. The first thing I would do is make sure she is healthy. I would see if your vet can look at her and make sure she isn’t painful, no infection, no fever, no urinary tract infection, etc. if she isn’t feeling well, this definitely can cause a change in behavior. If everything is normal then I would make sure she is getting along with everyone in the house. Make sure there are plenty of litter boxes as this is something they commonly will become territorial over. You can even put out some feliway diffusers which are pheromones they help calm down cats. Unfortunately these don’t work on everyone. You make also look into vetriscience composure treats as a natural calming supplement. I hope this helps!

This can be common when getting new cats, it takes time for the existing cat to adjust. Hiding is fine as long as Milo is eating and drinking as well as using the litter. I'd leave him be, he will come right soon.

If you are concerned that the male cat may injure the kittens then I would recommend you keep them separated at all times. However, I will say that it is normal for older cats (usually the momma cat) to teach the young kittens discipline and proper behavior by mewing at them, bopping them and nipping at them. Thank you for submitting your question regarding your cats. This can be common after a trip to the veterinarian. The kitten will be covered in different smells. This can cause stress in the older cat resulting in her to act out in aggression. Keep them separate unless they are fully supervised. They should be fine with each other in a few days. In the meantime, you can try a pheromone diffuser to help calm them. Feliway is a good brand. I hope this information helps!
