My new kitten won't stop crying and howling. What should I do?

It can take your kitten a week or two to acclimate to its new surroundings. He has to get used to his new environment and used to the fact that he's not around his littermates and mother anymore. Just keep giving him plenty of attention and affection and he should be fine in no time.

The most common reason that a male cat will howl throughout the night is that there is a female cat in heat, and he wants to get outside. From the information that you posted, you did not list Winston as being neutered. If that is the case, then neutering him may solve the problem. If Winston is already neutered, then I would recommend having your veterinarian examine him to make sure there isn't anything abnormal on examination. Sometimes we will see howling at night associated with high blood pressure in cats. And finally, if Winston was previously an outdoor cat, he may be used to being allowed to go outside and roam at night (which is certainly not safe). So, you may need to find ways to keep him occupied at night. One option may be to have him "hunt" his food at night using a product like Doc & Phoebe ( https://docandphoebe.com/ ) or a feeding ball. He could be crying due to many reasons' including an upset stomach, not eating enough, not eating the right thing, being cold or having trouble using the bathroom. Crying can be because he’s hungry, cold, or has to go potty. Make sure you are feeding him often enough with kitten milk replacer if he is not nursing his mother. Stimulating him to pee and poop with a warm damp cloth around his tail should be done several times a day to keep him regular. Kittens can die quickly if they get cold so make sure he is snuggled in a warm place or with another animal. If there are intact female cats outside as well he is likely sensing them. I would consider neutering him to reduce the kitten population. If he is eating, drinking and otherwise fine then that is most likely the cause. Have a good day!

Vocalizing can mean anything from I'm hungry, I want attention, I am in pain, I want to play. If she able to walk? is she eating and drinking? has she had any vomiting and/or diarrhea, etc? Is her breathing normal? Without more info, I'm afraid we can't speculate on the cause.

The best solution is to let him go wherever he wants in the house, this is your best chance at getting some sleep, but kittens this age are very active at night and you can expect intensive night action for the next 3 months.
