What wet food can I mix Atopica in for my cat who refuses meds?

You can try and see if having the medication compounded at a compounding pharmacy to a very small dose and with good flavoring that can be disguised well enough for Wendy to take. Otherwise, you will need to consider having her kept at a veterinary clinic as medical boarding and have the veterinary staff try and medicate her for you. I hope this helps! There is also a product known as "Pill Pockets" that you can squeeze the antibiotic into. I hope this helps and that all is well with Sushi!

Atopica works most effectively when given on an empty stomach. That said, I have recommended to some patients to initially give it with food until some of the GI upset has resolved, knowing that the medication will not be as effective. Once the GI signs resolve, we then give it on an empty stomach. You should speak with your vet before trying this approach. I hope Lily is able to tolerate her Atopica and feel better soon!

Hi and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There are many reasons why Ariel could stop eating, one of which could be the antibiotic (Augmentin). The reason she is on Augmentin could be another reason why she has stopped eating. Augmentin does have a potential to be rough on the GI system, it can cause animals to have GI signs, ie vomiting, diarrhea and not wanting to eat. Often times if it is given with a meal these signs are avoided; however, just like in humans every animal responds differently to medication. Ariel may just be sensitive to Augmentin. I would recommend offering boiled, skinless chicken breast; even chicken or turkey baby food to encourage her to eat-try warming the food up as that often encourages them to eat as well. I would also speak with your veterinarian about her medication as she does need to be on a medication for the underlying condition-it just may need to be a different one. You can put it in a syringe and slowly administer it in her mouth. Make sure not to cause her too much stress or to administer it too quickly as she could choke. You can also smear it around her mouth or on her front legs. She will likely groom it off. You could try mixing it with something very tasty like canned cat food or a little tunafish if this is appropriate and OK for her. Best of luck.

It is best to mix it with canned cat food. I suggest not keeping food out for her all the time so that way she is hungry when you go to feed her. She will be more likely to eat it all. Mix the medicine with the smallest amount of canned food (like a teaspoon or two) and make sure she eats that first. Then you can give her the remaining food. Hope this helps. Best wishes!
