My cat refuses Laxatone. How do I give it if she only eats dry food?

If your cat has mild constipation but is still pooping, I would consider a product like laxatone. It is labeled as a hairball remedy and is a flavored petroleum. You can put it on the food or on your cats foot and he will lick it off when he grooms. If, however, your cat hasn't pooped in days, he needs to see the vet for an exam and more intensive treatment.

Hi there and thanks for posting! You can also try regular plain canned pumpkin puree on to of her food. This can sometimes help with mild episodes of constipation. Making sure Baby gets enough water each day is important too. Cats tend to prefer drinking from a running water source. Sometimes cat fountains can be helpful at encouraging water consumption in cats. I hope this helps!

I'm so sorry to hear that you have not been able to get Annabelle to take her Atopica. Often the best option for getting cats to eat medications are very stinky foods. I have found that a number of the Fancy Feast canned foods are the tastiest and stinkiest. You could also use a small amount of canned tuna (packed in water) or baby food (as long as it doesn't have garlic or onion powder in it). I would also recommend giving the canned food on an empty stomach. We do not want cats to go more than 24 hours without eating, but if you feed dry food, you may have luck if you pick up the dry food at night, then put down the canned food in the morning. You may also consider feeding an entire meal of canned food (if you find a type that she likes), so there is less Atopica in each bite. Good luck! I hope that was helpful and gives you some ideas. While maple syrup is high in calories and I wouldn't recommend feeding a lot, I think it should be fine to mix a few drops with laxatone to get Fatboy to eat it. Maple syrup is not toxic to cats. If you're interested Vetoquinol makes a maple flavored laxatone that Fatboy might like. Sometimes I have cat owners put the laxatone on their cat's paws to make sure they lick all of it off.

Hello. You will need to get just a little bit tough with Pookie. You need to scruff her & tilt her head back so that her nose is pointed straight up. This will actually relax her jaw a bit where you can introduce the syringe into the side of her mouth. Drip the Metacam in & then praise her well. Stubborn old girl! You can try mixing it with a wet food and see if she will eat it; either with canned food or tuna; the stronger taste (as apposed to chicken broth) might help. Otherwise you will have to just have to stick the syringe down the hatch. :( I wish I had a better solution for you! Hi, what medication are you trying to give to Rajah ? It just sounds like a large volume for a cat. There is no magic trick that you can do to give him oral liquid medications without a syringe or without food. I would suggest that you try mixing it with a strong smelling food such as tuna in water and just give it when Rajah is hungry.
