Is it safe to microwave cat food, or should it be room temp?

If you keep the tin in the fridge then spoilage is slowed, ie the important nutritional ingredients will not change and the full nutritional value of the food will be retained. You should, however take the food out of the fridge and let it warm up or put it into the microwave for a few seconds, to get it to room temperature to avoid gastro-intestinal problems in your kitty,

There is no reason why your dog should or should not eat food at similar temperatures to what humans would eat (as long as it will not burn his mouth). Dogs are generaly happy to eat food at room temperature and there is no need to heat it

It should be fine to give them the food right out of the fridge but they may be more willing to eat it if it's room temperature. Just don't microwave it because that could make portions of it too hot and potentially dangerous for the bird. I would try offering the food both cold and room temp and see which your bird prefers. Hi Jamie, There are a lot of people who advocate for a raw food diet, but you are right that there are a lot of risk factors. There is not a medical benefit to feeding raw food over cooked food. I think a balanced homemade (cooked) or canned food diet are the safest for cats. Making a homemade diet and keeping it balanced can be quite a bit of work, so I currently feed my cats canned. Yes, it's fine but you can store it in the fridge only for a short period of time (24-36hr). When you warm the food up make sure is not too hot for Choco. The alternative would be to warm it naturally at room temperature for 5-10 minutes. Please post again on the forum if you would like to discuss it further. I hope my answer was helpful.

Anytime you open a wet food I would put the open portion in the fridge. I would recommend covering the food with either a lid (you can get them at the pet store) or plastic wrap. I usually throw all wet food away on the 4th day of it being open. If they don't like the cold food, you can heat in a little bit in he microwave. Just make sure it isn't too hot. I wouldn't worry about it one time if it was in a cool spot as long as Noushmc isn't having any vomiting or diarrhea.
