Do budgies prefer egg food cold from the fridge or room temperature?

Cuttle bones are great for keeping the beak naturally trimmed, as well as providing a source of calcium and an appropriate balance of other minerals. Budgies can consume boiled egg whites however, I have found that they typically do not go for new foods especially those that aren’t colorful. If you do decide to provide egg whites for your bird, I recommend replacing them every day to prevent them from spoiling.

Budgies will typically eat a portion of their own food, and then regurgitate it to the babies so it can be more easily digested by them. If the parents aren't feeding the babies, there are commercial baby bird foods available that when added to water, mix up into a slurry that is easy for the baby bird to digest (since we can't regurgitate to them!). As the babies grow and start to explore on their own, they will begin to eat the regular adult food as well.

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I recommend providing both grain/seed mix or pelleted feed and fruits/veggies every day. It is not necessary to provide fruit and veggies daily as these are considered enrichment, and not necessary for nutritional requirements. Keep in mind that budgies tend to be neophobic, or do not like new things in their environments, so they may not respond well to new food items. There are various recipes available online, usually these are based on products such as cereals for human babies, peanut butter, apple sauce and baby food (e.g. https://www.cuteness.com/article/make-homemade-baby-cockatiel-food). I cannot really recommend those, perhaps only as a last resort. If you can get commercial pellets for adult parrots and grind them with water (pre-boiled) to prepare a slurry, that would work, but the commercial formulae are better. Please note that the food should be at 40-41C and prepared fresh for each feeding.

Food should ideally be fed at room temperature or very slightly heated - be careful heating in the microwave as the centre of the food can become much hotter than the outside and may cause burns. Placing the food bowl into a basin of hot water or heating gently over a radiator etc can help to just take the chill out of food

Thanks for reaching out about Blue. The average incubation length for budgies is 14-16 days, once she starts sitting on the eggs. A thermostat regulated heat lamp can be used to regulate the temperature. If she is going into and out of the nest box, and has laid egg in the box, she is probably comfortable with the size, as long as it is large enough to rear the young. Regarding nutrition, a wide variety of vegetables and a plant protein source (legumes) is important to replace nutrients lost in laying eggs. Good luck
