Why is my male cat peeing blood and going to the litter box often?

It's probably due to a bladder inflammation, it's very common in cats and is usually related to some sort of stress. it is a big problem especially in male cats, i strongly recommend taking him to the ER as he is in danger of getting blocked, which will be life threatening.

In most cases this is caused by a bladder inflammation, usually stress related. in male cats it is considered an emergency as they can easily develop a urinary blockage following this condition, i recommend taking him to the vet today.

Given that Minx is a young male cat and having abnormal urinations and likely blood in his urine, I suspect that he may be suffering from Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), or inflammation in the lower urinary tract. This is causing him difficulty urinating, and painful urination. I recommend having him seen by a veterinarian right away, before he becomes fully "blocked", meaning unable to pass any urine at all. This is a life-threatening emergency, and requires rapid veterinary attention. Your veterinarian will perform a physical exam and likely recommend bloodwork to evaluate the severity of his urinary tract disease. FIC is a treatable condition, but again, if he becomes unable to pass any urine at all, he can experience acute kidney failure and develop fatal heart rhythms. I hope this is helpful!

Poor guy. I too would be concerned about possible cancer. The next step would be to get an abdominal ultrasound to look for other possible causes such as cancer. Cats can also just get cystitis, which caused inflammation of the bladder due to stress. This is typically treated with a prescription urinary food and often-times anti-anxiety medication. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Pilu. You will need to see your veterinarian and have a urine sample tested. You need to determine the cause of the bloody urine. He could be experiencing inflammation in his bladder, bladder stones or an infection. Each of these scenarios has a different course of treatment. Once you know why he is experiencing this problem, it can be treated and steps can be taken to help prevent a recurrence. Be sure to clean the litterbox frequently. Have at least two boxes if he is your only cat. This will encourage him to use the boxes. I hope this information helps!

I would be very suspicious that he had a urinary blockage, was able to pass the obstructing material and that's when he got all wet and litter covered and may have passed blood. It would be the best plan if action to take him to your veterinarian for an exam and a urinalysis. Explain exactly what is going on. He may have an infection, crystalsi in his urine or bladder stones. If he was obstructed, he could do it again very soon and this can be a life threatening emergency.

It is usually related to bacterial infection of the bladder but it may be due to bladder crystals or stress. Please, take her to your local vets for an appointment, as most likely she will need a course of antibiotics to get better.
