Why is my male cat peeing blood and red particles? Should I go to ER?

In most cases this is caused by a bladder inflammation, usually stress related. in male cats it is considered an emergency as they can easily develop a urinary blockage following this condition, i recommend taking him to the vet today.

Poor guy. He likely has a urinary tract infection or cystitis (inflamed bladder usually due to stress). I would recommend taking him to your vet for a urine test to determine which is present so that he is treated appropriately. As long as he is otherwise acting normal and able to urinate at will, then it isn't considered an emergency at this point. Getting him seen on Monday or the day after should be ok. That can indicate there is a urinary Track infection. he will need to be seen by a vet to get a urine sample checked to see if there are crystals also. Make cats can become obstructed and not urinate at all if it goes untreated and that is an emergency

Hello Melissa. Blood in the urine is an indication of significant inflammation in the urinary bladder. Because a male cat's urethra is so tiny, it is very important to have this looked at as soon as possible to prevent a possible blockage. I would be very suspicious that he had a urinary blockage, was able to pass the obstructing material and that's when he got all wet and litter covered and may have passed blood. It would be the best plan if action to take him to your veterinarian for an exam and a urinalysis. Explain exactly what is going on. He may have an infection, crystalsi in his urine or bladder stones. If he was obstructed, he could do it again very soon and this can be a life threatening emergency.

They are prone to developing obstructions in the urinary tract. This is life threatening if the cat becomes unable to urinate. As long as he is urinating readily with no excessive straining, vocalization, or lethargy, he shouldn't be in any immediate danger.
