Why is my male cat less active and playful since being fixed?

If he's not neutered, it may be that he is more interested in going outside to find females with which to mate. In that case, have him neutered. If he's neutered, it could also be that he's sick. Some cats are lethargic and less playful when they have fever (I guess that was checked by your vet) or painful condition, for example muscle pain, joint pain, spinal pain and more. If his activity is not back to normal in 2-3 days I would suggest trying a short course of anti-inflammatory medications.

That is unusual. It may be that he’s just growing out of the playful kitten stage. As long as he’s healthy and you’ve had him examined then I would just give him time. If there is something medically wrong you should see a specific problem if it worsens. He could just be tired or sore if he had a mild injury you didn’t see. Leo is still a kitten and this high energy level is normal. Neutering does have some calming effect but it does not completely alter their personality or change them. He will calm down as he gets older and for now, continue doing what you are doing. You are doing a great job! You may look for some automated cat toys that will allow Leo to play without you. Hello. It would be very difficult to say if this is just a normal change in behavior, or if something is amiss. If all he is doing is napping elsewhere, has normal food & water intake, normal litter box habits, then I would just continue to observe him for a few day more. See if something else may develop or concern you, then maybe have him examined by your vet. He may be trying to develop something, or he has just decided himself to nap elsewhere. If not, you may want to contact your veterinarian to either get some pain medications or possibly refill some more. You may also want to schedule a recheck with your veterinarian to be sure the surgical site does not look infected. It is also normal for pets to experience abnormal behaviors for a few days after an anesthetic event - this may also be the case for Bunny. Some pets will be more active once they wake up from sedation. This is usually temporary and will usually wear off in a few hours. It is very important to try to keep his activity minimal. I recommend to have him contained in one room with his litter box, food and water. Try to pick a room that does not have tall furniture or anything that he may try to climb or jump off and on. You may need to hang out with him until he calms down. Playing classical music may also help and decreasing stimulation in general.
