Why has my healthy kitten suddenly stopped playing and lost interest?

Kittens go through different stages where they are more or less active, so it may be that he just doesn’t want to play right now. If he seems very lethargic, if his appetite is decreased, or if you notice changes to his urination or defecation habits I’d recommend having him examined by your veterinarian to rule out a medical problem.

This behaviour could be due to fever, pain, intestinal worms and more. Please de-worm your kittens if they have not been dewormed in the last few days. If it does not make any difference, please take him to your local vets for an appointment.

It's very hard to know what is wrong based on these very general symptoms, I would expect a kitten this age to want to play all the time so you are right to be worried, my recommendation would be to have him checked by your vet ASAP

I am worried that Cube might be sick. Kittens normally are quite playful, so a kitten who just eats and sleeps without periods of high energy play and curiosity is not normal. Please take him to the vet for an exam. The vet will probably recommend some blood tests, and may also recommend a stool sample. It could be that he was born with some sort of internal defect such as a heart malformation that makes him not able to have periods of sustained play. Please have him seen by a vet ASAP. Hello. It would be very difficult to say if this is just a normal change in behavior, or if something is amiss. If all he is doing is napping elsewhere, has normal food & water intake, normal litter box habits, then I would just continue to observe him for a few day more. See if something else may develop or concern you, then maybe have him examined by your vet. He may be trying to develop something, or he has just decided himself to nap elsewhere. If this continues, you should have him evaluated immediately. Your vet can take a history, perform an examination, and then advise a diagnostic/treatment plan. Possible causes include pain, infection, inflammation, stress/anxiety, bite/scratch wounds if he was outside, among other things. Good luck and I hope Mittens bounces back to normal soon.

If he's not neutered, it may be that he is more interested in going outside to find females with which to mate. In that case, have him neutered. If he's neutered, it could also be that he's sick. I'd have him seen by a vet for a health check in this case. I hope this helps!
