Is it too late to take my 10-month-old cat outside on a leash?

Remember that every pet is an individual and they will all react differently. Squeak may be more adventurous than your older cat and thus more likely to roam and get into trouble. You may try again when she is older (kittens tend to be more active than adults) so maybe wait til she is a year old (or older). It's also possible she will never be a cat who can be left alone outside. Cats can be trained to walk on a leash and they do make underground fences for cats. I hope this helps.

It may take some time and patience to train your cat to feel comfortable on a leash. You first need to put the harness on him inside and let him get used to it. Once he is comfortable with the harness than you can attach the leash and let him drag it around the house while you supervise. If you're interested in leash-training Sofia, you'll want to do so gradually. Starting with short outings in the yard, you can then work up to going on longer trips. Signs she is interested in doing this can include wandering around and exploring, walking alongside you, etc. If she is tugging on the leash to try and get back inside, trying to escape her harness, or is digging in her claws and not wanting to move, she is likely not enjoying it and you should take a break.

I think it's a great idea for cats who want to enjoy the outside in a safe way; I would recommend by starting to have Oreo wear a harness around the house to get her used to wearing it, then attach her leash while in the house and allow her to adjust to its weight. Finally, then I'd take her outside for an adjustment to being in the yard on it. Some cats progress in a couple weeks, and others can take a little longer. Good luck!

Let her take the kitten with her. She wants the kitten to come with her so she can teach it how to hunt, what to eat and what not, teach her what and who is dangerous, etc. This is important for the kitten. She will teach it to become a good cat able to take care of itself.

I recommend starting with short supervised trips outside. You should only feed your cat indoors and offer food during specific meal times to make sure you get her to come back in at night.
