Why is my kitten weak, vomiting, and has diarrhea after neuter?

Hi there. I would recommend getting Shoebox to a veterinarian as soon as you can. These signs are not normal after a neuter and he needs to be examined. He could be having an adverse reaction to the medications or have something else happening but with his small size the sooner he’s seen the better.

It is possible that he could have had a reaction to the anesthesia or just the stress of being neutered. Or it could be completely coincidental and it could be secondary to something else like parasites, foreign body, a sudden change in food, pancreatitis, an underlying infection, and much more. I would try to feed him some plain boiled boneless and skinless chicken and white rice. I would also try to start him on some probiotics. Your vet should be able to provide these or give you some recommendations. You can try some plain sugar free yogurt but the probiotics in this isn't as good as the cat probiotics because we have different bacteria in our gut than in cats. The next step should be to have him re-examined and likely have some bloodwork done. I would also make sure the vet has ruled out an parasites including giardia which is difficult to find on a regular fecal test. If your vet doesn't think there is a foreign body, they will be able to provide him with a good anti-nausea medicine to help with the vomiting. I hope this helps!

I am sorry Miso is not feeling well. I would recommend taking Miso to the vet for a good exam, It is possible that Miso has gotten sick and it is not related to the neuter. Some cats can be sensitive to certain medications but can also get viral disease that can cause vomiting and anorexic. IT is best to have his temperature taken and a good exam to help determine why he is sick and proper treatment. I hope that helps

Noodle might be sick. By this point, he should be completely recovered from the neuter. I recommend to ave him examined today if possible. I'm sorry to hear that Roxas is not feeling well. Most neuter incisions, especially in young cats, heal very quickly and a week would be the minimum I would wait to give him a bath. I don't think you did anything wrong there. I would look at his neuter incisions and see how they look. Most of the time at this point they just have small scabs on them. As for the symptoms you are describing, I would recommend that he be seen by a veterinarian so it's good you have an appointment. It may be related to the neuter since it happened so recently, but it could be a completely separate illness. Please don't beat yourself up. You are doing the right thing in taking him in tomorrow.

I'm very sorry to see this. Six hours is an incredibly long time to neuter a cat. We usually do these in under five minutes. However, a vet assistant is not considered to be qualified enough to do these procedures, so this is likely the reason it took so long. If Munchkin was under anesthesia that long, then this could explain why he is acting like this. Usually, cats are back to their normal selves about 24 hours after the procedure with standard anesthesia protocols. Considering much is unknown about this case and that an unqualified person was performing the procedure, I would be concerned about organ damage or internal bleeding causing him to act like this. For this reason, I recommend you take Munchkin to be evaluated by a vet doctor as soon as possible, so they can help determine the problem and provide the necessary treatment and monitoring.
