My neutered kitten won't eat or vomits. Should I take him to vet?

I am sorry Miso is not feeling well. I would recommend taking Miso to the vet for a good exam, It is possible that Miso has gotten sick and it is not related to the neuter. Some cats can be sensitive to certain medications but can also get viral disease that can cause vomiting and anorexic. IT is best to have his temperature taken and a good exam to help determine why he is sick and proper treatment. I hope that helps

Loss of appetite can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. It is possible that he could have had a reaction to the anesthesia or just the stress of being neutered. Or it could be completely coincidental and it could be secondary to something else like parasites, foreign body, a sudden change in food, pancreatitis, an underlying infection, and much more. I would try to feed him some plain boiled boneless and skinless chicken and white rice. I would also try to start him on some probiotics. Your vet should be able to provide these or give you some recommendations. You can try some plain sugar free yogurt but the probiotics in this isn't as good as the cat probiotics because we have different bacteria in our gut than in cats. The next step should be to have him re-examined and likely have some bloodwork done. I would also make sure the vet has ruled out an parasites including giardia which is difficult to find on a regular fecal test. If your vet doesn't think there is a foreign body, they will be able to provide him with a good anti-nausea medicine to help with the vomiting. I hope this helps!

Yes I suspect it's the kitten food causing Buddy to have an upset stomach and vomit. Sudden changes in diet can lead to these symptoms. Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones or skin) in small amounts a couple times a day for a few days, the start slowly adding in his normal diet. If he refuses to eat the bland diet, vomits the bland diet, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, continues to have diarrhea, has blood in his stool, and/or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet immediately. Noodle might be sick. By this point, he should be completely recovered from the neuter. I recommend to ave him examined today if possible. He could have a fever, infection or a reaction to the anesthesia. Best to play it safe. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

You can probably wait until the morning to take him in to your regular vet. Just try to keep him calm and comfortable until then the best you can. If he starts crying out in pain for no reason, is vomiting without stopping, or having any bloody vomitus or diarrhea you should take him in tonight. Otherwise he will likely be ok until morning. That is concerning that Kovu has suddenly stopped eating as much and has not eaten for the past three days. That makes it a medical emergency. When a cat doesn't eat for three days, they will develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. Since you cannot reach your vet, you need to take him into an ER vet clinic now or find another vet in town to see you. Best of luck.
