Rescued kitten vomiting & runny poop. Should I wait until morning?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 2 lbs

Found and rescued stray kittens(3) 2 days ago. They were fine eating, drinking and Using litter box as we attempt taming. This morning, one of the kittens vomited 2 times. She was eating, pooping normal until today. Her poop is runny today for 1st time. . She has no fever, her mucus membranes are pink and look okay and her respiratory rate is normal. We don't have a get since rescue happened on weekend,. Should I attempt to find emergency care or is it safe to wait til morning?

I think you can safely wait until morning unless the clinical signs seem to persist or get worse. Small cats can definitely dehydrate or become hypoglycemic rather quickly, so persistent vomiting and diarrhea can become a problem. I would also consider separate the sick kitten from the healthy two until you have become certain that there is no infectious or contagious disease. Hope this helps!

Hello there, and thank you for rescuing these sweet kittens! As long as the kitten who vomited and has some runny poo is acting normal, is still hungry, and has nice pink, moist mucous membranes (which they appear to be from the picture), it's probably safe to wait till tomorrow morning for her to see the vet. Most kittens coming from outdoor environments have some measure of parasites, which could be causing her gastrointestinal upset. Additionally coming into a new home with new food can also cause a bit of an upset stomach. It's best, of course, to have a veterinarian make these determinations, so I'm glad that you're bringing the kittens in tomorrow. If anything changes, such as the kitten continues to vomit or becomes lethargic, you may need to bring her into an emergency hospital today. I hope this doesn't happen, and I wish you the best of luck in caring for these sweet kittens!

You can probably wait until the morning to take him in to your regular vet. Just try to keep him calm and comfortable until then the best you can. If he starts crying out in pain for no reason, is vomiting without stopping, or having any bloody vomitus or diarrhea you should take him in tonight. Otherwise he will likely be ok until morning. Poor kitten! I think you're in the right for trying to get in sooner to have her checked out by your vet. If she is bleeding a lot or is having severe diarrhea or vomiting, then seeking out care from another vet or even an emergency clinic may be a good idea. Keeping her bottom clean and dry can help, and feeding a bland meal of some boiled chicken may help as well until you can be seen.

My new kitten is vomiting after adoption. What steps should I take?

If the energy level is normal for this kitten and he is acting otherwise fine, I would continue to monitor and maybe syringe feed some water if he is not drinking enough to help prevent dehydration. If he is lethargic and continues to vomit, then I would take him in to be looked at by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Why is my foster kitten vomiting pink liquid and having diarrhea?

Poor kitty. Vomiting and diarrhea in a such a young kitty can be caused by a bacterial or viral infection in most cases. If kitty gets into things it can also be causaed by a foreign body ingestion. I would highly recommend taking this fur ball to your local vet for a thorough check up and medications to stop the vomtiing and potentially antibiotics may be needed.. 04/06 is a little far, i would say that it would be a good idea to take her to the vet in the next 24 hours, she is very young, diarrhea combined with vomiting at this age can be life threatening pretty fast.

What to do if my new stray kitten is throwing up and has diarrhea?

Hello. Thank you for rescuing this kitten. I would be most concerned about this kitten having an infection & most certainly having a large number of parasites it its gut. Roundworms are especially common in kittens & can cause significant discomfort & diarrhea. It would be best to have the kitten seen as soon as possible as she may need some medical treatment to get her going on the right track.
