My kitten is vomiting, has diarrhea, and is very tired. What to do?

My concern for Annie is that with and much vomiting and diarrhea and being so young and small is dehydration. Also young thin animals can get low blood sugar if they aren't eating or holding food down. Causes of vomiting and diarrhea in young kittens are parasites, viruses, eating something that didn't agree with them, foreign bodies, toxins, congenital liver problems, etc. Unfortunately, my recommendation is that you take her to the Veterinarian. There isn't any home remedy. In some areas there are local shelters that have veterinary clinics that can be low cost. I wish you and Annie the best.

Hello. Thank you for rescuing this kitten. I would be most concerned about this kitten having an infection & most certainly having a large number of parasites it its gut. Roundworms are especially common in kittens & can cause significant discomfort & diarrhea. It would be best to have the kitten seen as soon as possible as she may need some medical treatment to get her going on the right track. I recommend taking Stewie to the veterinarian to make sure he is ok. This may be a virus but it can also be intestinal parasites. I would bring a stool sample when taking him to the vet for check for parasites. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Diarrhea in kittens can be due to a variety of reasons, including intestinal parasites, dietary indiscretion, food intolerance, a virus or another underlying issue. I would recommend Oreo be evaluated by a veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for her diarrhea, have any necessary testing done (fecal analysis, etc) and start any treatment (dewormer, antidiarrheal, probiotic) that she may need to help resolve it. I am sorry to hear that Lucy isn’t feeling well. There are a variety of different infectious causes of diarrhea in kittens, such as panleukopenia, salmonella, coccidia and others. It sounds like she is in need of veterinary care as soon as possible. Kittens can fail quickly if they are not eating. Pleas try to take a fresh poop sample with you to your appointment. Hi and thanks for your post on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is hard to say exactly without seeing the kittens first for an exam, but I can certainly offer some insights. If they have not been vaccinated, it may be something infectious such as pankleukopenia which is viral infection. Ingesting a toxin or a parasitic infection could also be possibilities. Vomiting all night for 6 week old kittens is a very serious concern as kittens that young are very susceptible to dehydration from the vomiting and that can sometimes be fatal if not treated. My best advice is to take the kittens into your veterinarian as soon as possible for treatment and so a diagnosis can be made. Best of luck to you and I hope for a swift recovery!
