My kitten vomited once but is now fine and playful. Should I worry?

Try feeding smaller, more frequent meals. If Smokey eats fast, try a 'slow feed' bowl to address the issue. Sometimes, switching to a canned food may help. If the vomiting persists or worsens, have him examined by your veterinarian.

If it was an isolated incident and she's not acting sick otherwise, I would just monitor her closely. If she does continue vomiting or develops diarrhea, lethargy or poor appetite, I would be concerned and would take her to your family veterinarian for an examination.

Time will tell with this one. Since she's eating, drinking, and not lethargic, you certainly don't need to seek emergency care tonight. If tomorrow she still seems out of sorts, or continues to vomit, I would recommend scheduling a vet appointment for exam and x-rays of her abdomen. If it has only been twice and this last time was only a small amount, then I would likely wait and see. If there is any further vomiting through the night then I recommend taking him in tomorrow. Our pets are very talented at eating things they are not supposed to without us knowing about it, so I never take for granted the possibility. There are many reasons for vomiting, and if it resolves on its own, then nothing further is necessary.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It’s hard to tell what the object is from the pictures but it looks like digested food in the shape of the esophagus. It is not uncommon for cats to vomit randomly and occasionally. If Gizmo continues to eat and drink and doesn’t vomit, I would continue to monitor her. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Cuddles! Sometimes cats just vomit. If she is eating, drinking, playing and doesn't continue to vomit I wouldn't worry too much. It could have been from a hair ball, the treat upset her, she was full or from excitement. I would avoid that treat for a while. Be sure she has been dewormed well, has had her stool tested and is up to date on vaccines. I hope this helps!

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! What clinical signs was she exhibiting that indicated she was ill: vomiting, coughing, sneezing, inappetance, etc? It is not uncommon for kittens to acquire respiratory infections if they were obtained from a shelter/rescue setting and this can certainly make them feel ill. If Luna appears back to her normal self and is eating/drinking normally, no vomiting/diarrhea, or other signs are noted then I would suspect she is okay at this point. If she is still exhibiting any abnormalities of any kind I would certainly have her evaluated by her veterinarian. Based on her physical examination with the doctor, a minimum database (complete blood count, serum chemistry, +/- urinalysis, +/- FeLV/FIV test), fecal diagnostics, or radiographs may be recommended.
