Why is my kitten squinting and her eye looks glazed over?

Poor Bella. In one picture, her eyes look open and normal but the other picture they definitely look very irritated, watery, and not all the way open. If she is currently looking like the abnormal picture, then I am highly concerned about her eyes. She could be suffering from severe allergies, conjunctivitis (infection), herpes, or even corneal ulcers. You can try to flush out with artificial tears and give her a Benadryl but if she isn't improving I would have your vet take a look at her. Oh boy. Felix needs to see a vet ASAP if you want a chance at saving the eye. There could be an ulcer, infection, or it could be secondary to several upper respiratory viruses. The vet will do an exam and look closely at the eye to determine what treatments and pain medications are needed.

I suspect Alex has an infection. Kittens seem to be prone to both viral and bacterial eye infections and often require eye drops in order to heal. Additionally, if the infection gets bad enough, it can cause ulceration of the eye which is painful and can lead to the eye needing to be removed it not treated in a timely fashion. Young kittens very commonly have bacterial and viral ocular issues. They can also be squinting from an injury to the cornea. I suggest you get her to your vet ASAP so they can diagnose the issue and provide the proper treatment. Eyes are very delicate organs and can go from bad to worse very quickly. You should not wait a long time to seek treatment. The only thing you can do at home while waiting to get her to a vet is to rinse the eye with saline solution. Hello. This kitten has severe infection in both eyes. This requires IMMEDIATE veterinary attention if there is any chance of salvaging her eyes. She may have poor or no vision no matter what is done, but without medical intervention, it is likely that she will have to lose both eyes. She should be examined immediately and once evaluated, treatment can be started which will probably be a combination of oral and topical antibiotics. She may need to see a veterinary eye specialist if she does not start to improve, or she may need to have the eyes surgically removed. Hopefully, with immediate attention, she can improve. Please take her to your veterinarian or closest emergency clinic right away.
