Can new kittens sleep alone in their safe room with adult cats?

It can take several months of hissing and spitting before all the cats tolerate each other or even like each other. You should give them access to each other 24/7 but the kittens need a safe place to hide if necessary. Just love them all the same and eventually they will at least learn to live peacefully in the same household. Time is the cure.

Hello, ideally they kittens should stay with their moms at all times. Unfortunately, the older kittens and their mom, may not get along with he new kittens, and likely wise the newer mom may not approve of the the older kittens. I would recommend at least partitioning off the room for them so that they do not have direct contact with one another. Alternatively, if you have an outdoor shed or bathroom to put the new kittens and mom, that would be ideal as well. He may also like to sleep on the floor sometimes, which is perfectly fine :) It sounds like right now, he feels the most comfortable in your room - this is also fine. If you're ready to start introducing him to the rest of the house, I would recommend simply leaving the door to your room open so that he can venture out when he wants to. He should always be able to run back into your room at any time if he gets anxious or scared. Over the next few weeks, he should start to explore more and more as he gets more confident - don't rush this process, as it will only scare him more if you try to force him.

Good question! You do the introductions slowly, yes. The ideal way is to put the kitten in one room and the other cats in the rest of the house. Once the kitten is cleared by the vet, you will want to put the kitten in the rest of the house and all the other cats in his room. Do this for 30-60 minutes a couple times a day. That way they can get each other's scents. Also, at this stage you will want to feed the cats by the door of the kittens room; feed the kitten on the other side of the door too. So they can smell the kitten and get a reward at the same time. Once that is going well you can use a baby gate to separate them at the door for feeding. After a few days if that is going well (no hissing etc) you can let them all out together. When I say feed them at the door I mean something really good that they will consider a treat like canned cat food, canned chicken or canned tuna. Make it a really pleasurable experience! I also strongly recommend you get some Feliway diffusers. It is "happy cat pheromones" that really works to calm cats down. Use it for at least 2 or 3 months time. Hope this helps. As she grows older, she may chose to want to sleep on your bed more, but for now, giving her treats when she is on it will provide a good association with being there and make it more likely she will want to lie on the bed. Start with always supervising the interactions and play. If there has been no aggression shown when you are there to watch, you can gradually start to leave them to interact for longer periods. (Leave the house for just 10-15 minutes intially, and as they tolerate that, make it longer periods of time). I would hesitate to give them free range altogether if both males are intact however. If that is the case, I'd recommend that you keep the kittens in a separate room from the adult male cats. I do recommend keeping new kittens quarantined away from other cats for 2-3 weeks so you can monitor them for any illness that could be incubating. It can take time for cats to adjust. Getting a new cat is like getting a new roommate. Sometimes it is a perfect match and sometimes you can't wait to move out!
