My kitten's coat feels rough now. Is this normal as he grows?

Hello. It is very common for the coat to become a little more brittle as pets age. Tony is probably grooming a little less, too, so the oils in the coat are not being distributed as well as in a younger animal. all of this is very normal. If you suspect that Tony may have a bit of arthritis, talk to your vet about starting him on a glucosamine supplement, Adequan injections, or even some more directed analgesic medications. He may groom a bit more with this. But otherwise, I would not be too concerned. You have done a great job keeping him so healthy for all these years! That's hard to say. It could be nutrition related. Try adding in an omega 3 fatty acids for cats and change the food to Royal Canin, if this does not help after a month, have your cat examined by the veterinarian for thyroid disease and oil gland issues. I hope this helps.

Hello, congrats on the new kitty! It is normal to have a small area of thin hair in front of the ears, such as what you're seeing in Brownie, so that is not a concern as long as Brownie isn't acting abnormal by scratching excessively at the ears or showing other signs of discomfort. His hair otherwise looks nice and thick in the photos so I suspect he has normal shedding, which you can help control with regular brushing. However, if there are patches of distinct hair loss, or if he seems itchy, then you should have a vet take a look to make sure he doesn't have a skin condition requiring medication. Hope this helps.

Hello, sorry to hear about Misty. It may be that your kitten is changing her kitten coat. However, it may also indicate that she could have spilled someting on her coat. If she she develops any itchiness, hair loss, redening of the skin then this should be further assessed by your veterinarina. In regards to her food, some diet changes may cause alterations in normal coat health. Ideally she should be eating kitten food to provide all of her necessary kitten requirements. Chicken alone is not sufficient for her growing age. I would recommend offering varying types of kitten food and see which ones she prefers and monitoring her coat/skin for any additional changes. If she becomes lethargic, innapetent, has vomiting, or diarrhea, then she should be seen by her veterinarian promptly. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Cube is adorable. I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian to have him evaluated. He still has kitten fur so his full adult fur has not come in yet, but making sure he is healthy is very important in keeping a beautiful clean, full coat. The coat looks a bit dull and flaky. She probably has some form of seborrhea. I suggest you use this medicated mousse on her a couple times per week for a few weeks. It could be just genetics affecting the hair coat. Just like in people if one of your parents has brown eyes and one has blue eyes you might get either color. In the picture zeus looks like he has a normal healthy coat. Ivermectin is a dewormer so it is possible zeus had skin mites or ear mites when younger but that should not affect his over all coat health when he is older
