My kitten has ringworm. Should I tie him up? Are vet injections safe?

The treatment is with an oral antifungal, it's not recommended if your kitten is asymptomatic as this medication can have severe side effects. The medication is prescription only and can be given only by your vet, in this specific case I do not believe any vet would recommend this treatment though.

Antifungal medication (most likely a topical ointment based on itraconazole or similar) is required. Your vet can prescribe that when diagnosis has been correctly established by some skin testing for ringworm. Most veterinary clinics practice good hygeine to prevent infectious disease exposure so I think it would be unlikely. In a vet clinic two cats would not have contact with each other and would not be able to contact the same bedding or towels. Surfaces are disinfected between patients, and caution is used when handling animals if a zoonotic (transmissible to people) disease like ringworm was suspected. I would think it would be very unusual for Diva to be exposed.

Try to spend some time with her playing that doesn't involve treatments and medications to help your bond. There is not usually much of the fungus left after 4 lime dips, so I usually re-evaluate my patients at that time. After 4 weeks of treatment I would have Sierra re-examined by your vet to see if she is still infective. By this time she shouldn't be losing any more hair and you might even see some regrowth in her areas of hair loss.

As long as he is on treatment for the ringworm and it doesn't worsen after the vaccine, he should be absolutely fine. It sounds like he is not on treatment so I would make sure to contact the vet who last saw him so that you can start treatment if this is ringworm. There is a chance this is not ringworm at all and just an areas Kochi scratched at as well. I have vaccinated cats with skin infections and ringworm before and have never noticed that the infection worsened. Bathing then is an option to start but not very practical long term. They make prescription medication that is safe in cats to clear ring worm. If it is 1-2 spots, an ointment may be easier. If it is several spots the n oral is better. Your vet can examine one or two and confirm it's ringworm and get you the medicine you need.

I have never come across a topical medication that has been effective for treating ringworm in cats aside from prescription-based lime sulfur dips. The concern is that the Microsporum canis (fungal organism causing ringworm) is spread diffusely throughout a cat's entire hair coat, such that an isolated topical spray will not cover all surfaces of every hair, and lead to frequent recurrence. He needs a topical prescription medication. I would call his vet to see if there is way you can get him on a cancellation list to get him in sooner.
