Gave my kitten Profender instead of Stronghold. Is the dose too high?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | neutered | 6 months old | 5.75 lbs

Hi, I've just given my 6 month old kitten what I though was stronghold kitten spot-on/wormer which is what he usually has from the vets. However after giving it to him I noticed they'd actually given me 'profender ' for medium sized cats weighing 2.5kg-5kg.... Ollie weighs 5.75lbs/2.6kg so is JUST the correct weight but I'm worried it's too big a dose?

If Ollie is within the weight range, he should be fine. Monitor for drooling, lethargy or twitching. You can always wash him with some Dawn dish liquid focusing on the area of application to remove the product. This is most effective if it is still wet.
