My kitten has pneumonia. Is two antibiotic shots enough for recovery?

That is awesome news! I am so glad your kitty is feeling better. Just remember to finish the antibiotics for the duration of time that your vet prescribed them to ensure he doesn’t rebound and get sick again. Also always give the antibiotics with food and report any adverse reactions (vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite, lethargy, etc) to your vet rigth away if seen. I recommend finishing out his liquid antibiotic via oral syringe if you haven’t already. If he is still eating his dry food, then I wouldn’t worry too much about him avoiding canned food for now. You can try putting a very small amount of canned food in his mouth every few days after to show him that the food no longer has a medicinal taste. With patience and time he may start eating canned food on his own again. If he is not eating at all ( including dry food), then I recommend bringing him in to see your veterinarian as complete inappetance for more than 2 days in cats can lead to a very serious condition called hepatic lipidosis. If he is not eating at all, your vet may do additional diagnostics and/or recommend anti-nausea medications and/or appetite stimulants. Good luck!

Narla is very cute. You will not know if she requires a second shot until 10 to 14 days after the first shot. Some pets do required continued antibiotic therapy. What was your kitten on antibiotics for? It can take a couple doses to start to see an effect. At around 3 weeks of age I typically recommend starting to introduce wet kitten food that you can add the milk to until they get used to it. Hi, Maybe you could try to offer her some more nutrient and palatable food such as Hill’s recovery tins. Will she need an antibiotic course ? If you don’t have access to that particular food, you can try small amount of palatable food such a tuna in water, sardines.

I would recommend taking Soot back to the vet. If he hasn't been on antibiotics in 2 days then there may be another reason for the vomiting. He needs a full exam and possible diagnostics to determine the cause of vomitting and approriate treatment. Syringe feeding him while he is sick and nauseated is unlikely to be successful. Poor Sourpatch! You typically should start to see some improvement within 24-48 hours, but it can be longer based on the severity of the infection. He likely isn't using the litter box because he hasn't eaten or drank, so he has no need to pass anything. When cats have a respiratory infection, they can't smell their food. Smell is very important to cats, and they won't eat something if they can't smell it. To tempt him to eat, I would gently warm up really smelly wet food, such as sardine or fished based. That will get some moisture in him as well, and hopefully he will start eating soon. If he still isn't eating after trying this in another 24 hours, I would take him back into the vet.
