My kitten has green poop and a painful, draining lump on its side.

Hello. Without knowing what might be wrong with the kitten it is almost impossible to make any recommendations. I know your heart is in the right place, but if you can not care for the kitten, it really is the kindest thing to try & find someone who can care for & treat the kitten properly. It sounds like there may be some fairly significant things happening with the kitten, & things can get expensive quickly. Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hello. At 4 weeks of age, you should be weaning these kittens onto a good kitten food. 50 ml of milk 3 times a day may just be too much for them, especially if the kittens are less than 1 pound. The other very big cause of diarrhea in kittens is intestinal parasites. I would bring a sample of the stool to your veterinarian & have it examined microscopically. I strongly recommend an urgent vet check and fecal exam - profuse diarrhea and inappetance is very serious in such a young kitten and could rapidly lead to severe dehydration and debilitation. Offer only bland feeds of boiled chicken, fish or egg in the meantime, with an added probiotic such as fortiflora

These signs could be compatible with a colitis, which is an inflammation of the last part of the colon, usually related to dietary indiscretion. As a first approach, I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Hi there and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. There are many causes to diarrhea with a red perhaps inflamed anus. Parasites could be the cause or a bacterial or viral infection. I would take your kitten to your veterinarian soon for a fecal test where they will test his stool for parasites and bacteria and/or certain viruses that could be causing the diarrhea.
