Should I free feed or measure food for my 2-3 month old kitten?

Hello. At this point in your kittens lives, I would continue to allow them to free feed as they are still growing & maturing. If, after they are 1-2 years of age, they begin to get a little too heavy, you may need to restrict access to their food, but it is not necessary nor advised now. It is ok to feed multiple small meals, however at this age he will likely need more food. You can let him eat as much as he likes at this age as he is still growing. at three months he should weigh around 1200g.

You can free feed. By that, I mean leave her kitten food out all day, and she can nibble when she likes. Her kitten food will have the feeding instructions on the bag, so give her the daily recommended allotment. I hope this helps!

You can discontinue or decrease the amount of chicken being fed. A good quality kitten diet, such as the Roytal Canin your are feeding now, will fulfill his nutritional requirements. You can feed the kitten food 3-4 times daily, decreasing the feedings as he gets older.

You should feed her kitten food, canned food if possible because it adds water to her diet since most cats don't drink a ton of water. This in turn helps promote good urinary and kidney health long term. You should get a high quality kitten food such as Fromm, Hills science diet, Royal Canin, Evo or Eukanuba. Hello. Not sure exactly what your question is. Do you want to know how much to feed him? If so, that is completely dependent on the brand of food you are feeding. We always recommend you follow the instructions on the packaging. Be very careful not to let him eat too much at one sitting. Rule of thumb when they are kitten is that they should weigh about a pound for every month old they are. Example: if he is 3 months old, then he should be around 3 pounds. Also, you can stop the milk. He is past needing that and it can actually cause more harm than good at this stage. Hello, and thank you for your question. Young kittens at 6 weeks are going through a very rapid phase of growth, so it is completely normal for them to be eating like crazy all the time. It is not advised to limit his food intake, as he needs lots of energy to grow between now and 6 months of age. After 6 months, you should start being more strict with the food portions. The best thing to do between now and 6 months is to offer him a good quality kitten (not adult) diet in both wet and dry formulations. Offer his a certain amount of wet food per day (e.g. one can), and give him as much dry food as he wants. You can try spacing out his dry food so he does not gorge and eat too quickly to the point that he throws up (known to happy in food-happy kittens!).
