I would not yet cut her nails as the nails are necessary for traction at this age. I would not cut the nails until your kitten is at least 4 months old. Minu needs to be able to run, climb and play without slipping.

It is not safe to cut the paws, however you can carefully clip the tips of the nails when your kitten is about 12 weeks old. At this time it needs its claws to get a grip on the floor for learning how to walk properly. Your kitten will still need kitten milk from the bottle until she is about 6 weeks old. By the time she is 4-5 weeks old you can offer her small amounts of canned kitten food several times a day. She will be a messy eater, so will need to be cleaned after she tries to eat solid food.

Normally, the kitten weaning process begins at about four weeks of age.If the mother is there, you can start trying to offer kittens food and slowly she will push her away from her. You can start cutting nails from 4-6weeks of age (so she will get used to it).

How to trim a 1-year-old cat's nails? Is it really necessary?

Hi and thanks for your question! You may buy nail small clippers found at your local pet supplies store to trim your cat's nails. If your cat is indoors, you may need to trim the nails every 8 weeks or so. You may ask your veterinarian to show you the proper way to do this. Outdoor cats do not need their nails trimmed very often is at all. Being outside and walking on ground and pavement helps to trim them down on their own. Alternatively, having cat scratch posts around your home if your cat is an indoor cat, can help to trim down their nails naturally. I hope this has helped!

7-week kitten bites hands, sharp nails. When should she get shots?

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Kittens' nails are really sharp and they keep scratching everything in the house ! You can clip the sharp very tip of the nails in the front legs with nail clippers. Just be careful not to clip in the pink part. Ivy should have her de-worming medication now (if she hasn't had it yet) and then again in 2 weeks time. She also should have her first vaccination when is is about 8-9 weeks old. Her second vaccination will be given 3-4 weeks after the first one. She looks like a happy, sweet kitten !

My 4-month-old kittens: When to spay/neuter? Should I declaw?

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! I recommend spaying and neutering cats around 5-6 months of age. Declawing is amputation the of the last segment of their digit, like a knuckle in people. It is done with a blade or a laser which depends on the hospital. Most hospitals are getting away from declawing and are not offering it anymore. It is painful and behavioral issues (like inappropriate elimination) and chronic pain or even regrowth of the nail if not done appropriately has been seen. If you are going to declaw then it should be done with the spay and neuter when they are young. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. A little fraying or ragged edges on cut nails can be normal, but it may also mean that your trimmers are a bit dull. It may be worth investing in new nail trimmers - some of the less expensive ones truly don't seem to cut as well as more expensive nail trimmers. But it shouldn't hurt their nails long term

Yes, this is perfectly normal - this is how kittens play. I would recommend using a fishing-lure type toy to play with Minu so that she doesn't get into the habit of biting and grabbing at your hands, since this will hurt when she gets older.
