Kitten fell on concrete, has nosebleed. Should I be concerned?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 13 days old

I accidentally dropped my kitten on concrete and she had a minor nose bleed. Is there anything I should be concerned about? She still hisses, which is good because her and her siblings do so all the time. She still eats well. She's about 3-5 weeks old. The fall was about 3 feet.

Hi. I'm sorry to hear about your kitten. Just watch her for any signs of continued nose bleed, decrease in appetite, lethargy, facial swelling, change in mentation, wobbly when walking. If she acts normal, is eating, drinking, interacting the same without any problems most likely she is going to be fine. Kittens are very resilient but it is always good to check when these sorts of accidents happen. Best of luck!

I would be worried about a head trauma and/or swelling of the brain. I would recommend having the kitten checked out by your vet to make sure there is nothing too serious going on. If she is still walking around normally and eating and drinking these are all good signs.

You need to monitor her for the next 1-2hrs at home. If there are no injuries, she should be back to normal. Acting as normal, eating, drinking, not showing any signs of pain or discomfort. If she is not, for example if she refused to eat, looks sleepy, lethargic, limping, having breathing problems you should take her to your local vets today.

My 4-week-old kitten fell and is coughing. What should I watch for?

It is hard for me to tell you what is going on without examining your kitten. There is the possibility for internal trauma from a fall that high in a very young kitten. I would recommend that you keep a close eye on her. I would be more concerned if the cough continues or worsens for 72 hours, or if she is not eating or panting more than normal. Keep her as still and calm as possible so that her body can heal. Kittens can heal very quickly if you can manage to let them do it!

Kitten head injury: nosebleed, swollen nose, sneezing. Vet needed?

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Sebastian! You are describing head trauma. It sounds like he was hit hard enough in the head and face to have concussion symptoms. He may have fractured bones in his face or nasal sinuses. The blood indicates trauma to his nose which you are seeing by the swelling. This could be inflammation or something is broken. Sneezing is a normal response to inflammation/pain/irritation in the nasal cavity or sinuses. If the bleeding continues, he acts abnormal or extra sleepy, wont' eat or play then he needs a Vet exam. Otherwise you can watch the swelling and sneezing. If there is no improvement by Monday in the swelling he should be seen. I wish Sebastian the best!

Kitten stepped on neck, bled, now active but not eating. Is she okay?

Poor Bubblu! It's very concerning that she was bleeding from the nose and mouth and seemed unresponsive at first - so I would be worried that she may have some serious internal injuries, even if she seems okay right now. I'm afraid there is no way that you can determine this at home, so she really does need to see a vet right away. If you call your regular vet's office, their voicemail or answering service should have information about where the nearest emergency clinic is, or contact information for an on-call veterinarian who can see your kitten tonight.

My cat fell and is sneezing blood. When should I take her to the vet?

The nose doesn't look broken, it's probably just soft tissue injury, i would recommend waiting 3-4 days, i would expect seeing some sort of improvement by then. if the condition remains the same- take her to the vet to get it checked.

Oh poor Stogie! If the bleeding has stopped and there is no swelling, I'd keep an eye on her for now. If you see swelling, the bleeding starts again, she stops eating, or becomes lethargic, then I would be worried and have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps!
