My 9-week-old white kitten's ears look blue/purple. Is this normal?

It's hard to see what's happening in the photos, but if the ear is turning blue or black or is very cold to the touch I would be concerned that it isn't getting the right amount of blood supply to it for some reason. Other issues such as injury or bruising may also cause the color change, however it would be best to have it examined by a vet in person to look at it and treat as needed.

I'm sorry Blue isn't doing well at the moment! I wouldn't worry about his nose going from wet and cold to warm and dry. This isn't a sign of illness in cats, as their nose can change like this just by lying next to a heat source or in the sun. It could be he's simply not feeling well, but I wouldn't rush him into a vet just yet. Try to tempt him to eat by offering him some boiled white meat chicken (no bones), or by offering him some gently warmed canned food. If your kitten is eating well and is playful and otherwise normal, I would not be too concerned. However, if he is drinking so much that he is vomiting up water or urinating excessively, then I would recommend an examination by your veterinarian.

If the urine is dark he may be dehydrated. Also, frequent vocalization can mean he's hungry, thirsty, in pain/discomfort, and many other things. Open mouth breathing is not normal for cats and could mean he's congested or has a heart or lung condition. The kitten should be drinking milk replacer. It sounds like he would benefit from a visit to a veterinarian to examine him for any medical issues. He may need deworming and the veterinarian can make specific recommendations based on his physical exam findings.

Hello, frequently, it may be apparent that cants and sometimes dogs may have a pale or even bluish skin. It is not generally associated with any diseases, diet, or hairballs. This may actually be associated with blood supply to and from his skin. After blood is delivered to any organ, it releases oxygen and blood becomes darker in color, a blue color. This may be the reason why Kane's skin appears more blue. Alternatively, his dark coat may also be giving his skin this color appearance. As long as Kane is otherwise doing ok, he likely does not have anything abnormal going on with him. Hi there! Congrats on your kitten! If your kitty is eating soft kitten food on his own, he may be getting enough fluid from his food. I would keep offering water, but I wouldn't be too worried about how much he's taking in as long as he continues to grow and be playful with a good appetite. As long as water is available, he will figure it out. Canned kitten food is more complete and balanced than formula, so if he's eating that then it's a better option than formula. You could encourage a bit more water intake by adding extra water to his canned food and mixing it into a slurry. It wasn't indicated how long you've had him, so I'm not sure if the not pooping is a concern. Cats will generally defecate about 1-2 times daily. Of course, if you feel something isn't right, then it's best to have him checked out by your vet.
