Why did my 6-week-old kitten's nose turn gray and why is he lethargic?

This appears to be just a change in color of the hair alone. No worries. THe haircoat in kittens often does change as they get older. It looks like he may have a dermatitis on his nose which could be secondary to a bacterial infection, trauma, allergic reaction, or possibly a fungal infection. He should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. Your vet can do a culture, if needed to help diagnose.

Maybe not, however a change in the "pallor", or color of the surfaces of the inside the mouth, the nose (in a light-colored cat) or sclera (white part) of the eyes can indicate certain disease processes. I'd worry potentially about anemia, or lack of red blood cells, making your cat's nose look pale-r than normal. Anemia can have a number of causes including certain infectious diseases transmitted by fleas as well as autoimmune disease. The black dots are concerning as well, although without seeing a picture it's hard to say what those are. Bottom line - I think this is worth getting checked out by your vet, to be sure your kitty is normal.

The color can change with ambient temperature, with activity or when stressed (gets more pink). It can indicate anemia but cats that are anemic also have pale gums and act sick. If her nose still gets its normal pink color she is likely fine. My own cats nose does this. If you are unsure about her gum color, have your Vet check her to be sure. I hope this helps!

I see what you mean about the dark area on Piper Grace's nose. This could be due to something like ringworm or a skin infection. Without seeing her in person, I can't be certain what is going on, so I recommend a vet visit for her. The vet can diagnose what is causing this problem and can treat her. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Bertie. I recommend that he sees his veterinarian today if his symptoms persist. Being so young, he can dehydrated easily if he does not eat and drink properly. He may be experiencing an upper respiratory tract infection. See if he has any eye or nose discharge as well as any sneezing. Gastrointestinal infections can cause him to not feel well and are usually accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea. Finally, if he sustained an injury he could have the symptoms you reported as well. His veterinarian will be able to differentiate between these causes. I hope this information helps!

I'm sorry Blue isn't doing well at the moment! I wouldn't worry about his nose going from wet and cold to warm and dry. This isn't a sign of illness in cats, as their nose can change like this just by lying next to a heat source or in the sun. It could be he's simply not feeling well, but I wouldn't rush him into a vet just yet. Try to tempt him to eat by offering him some boiled white meat chicken (no bones), or by offering him some gently warmed canned food. Should he refuse to eat this and is still acting the same way in the morning, take him into the vet for a health check. Good luck, I hope this helps!
