My kitten drank Diet Pepsi. Is it harmful? What should I watch for?

Symptoms of caffeine toxicity can start to occur at 15mg of caffeine per kg of body weight. For a 10lb cat, this places Cleo right at the 15mg per kg dosage. At this point, I would monitor her at home very closely. If Cleo begins showing symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, hyperactivity, restlessness, increased urination, tremors, seizures, panting, or heavy breathing, please take Cleo to an emergency veterinary clinic right away. However, these ingredients are toxic in larger amounts, and it does not seem like you used much of the salsa in your queso. I recommend keeping a close eye on Marvin - he should be seen by a vet if he develops lethargy, vomiting, or inappetance. I hope all is well!

There is no concern for toxicity here. Pepperoni may cause some upset stomach issues but other than that she should be fine. If you do see some upset stomach symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea), then you can try a probiotic (i.e. Culturelle over the counter) and a bland diet of lean ground beef and rice and pumpkin (not the pie filling) for a few days, then slowly transition her back to her normal diet. Animals can show signs of toxicity after ingesting 1.5 mg per kilogram of body weight and Hunter may have ingested over 7 mg per kg. I would be concerned about the potential for serotonin syndrome secondary to this medication. It could cause agitation, high heart rate or blood pressure, muscle tremors or seizures. I would recommend seeing an emergency veterinarian to discuss treatment. Attempting to induce vomiting might be recommended if he ate the pill recently, but it can be difficult to get cats to vomit. Otherwise the recommended treatment would probably be IV fluids and monitoring in the hospital.

As long as the soda did not contain any artificial sweeteners like xylitol then Yogi should probably be okay if he only ingested a small amount. It looks like Fanta is caffeine free so that should not be an issue. Please monitor Yogi for any signs of ill healthy like vomiting, lethargy, and inappetence. If any of these signs occur Yogi should be seen by a veterinarian. If the soda did contain xylitol then Yogi should be seen by a veterinarian right away.
