My 6-month-old kitten has diarrhea and vomiting. Is it distemper?

I am sorry to hear that Lucy isn’t feeling well. There are a variety of different infectious causes of diarrhea in kittens, such as panleukopenia, salmonella, coccidia and others. It sounds like she is in need of veterinary care as soon as possible. Kittens can fail quickly if they are not eating. Pleas try to take a fresh poop sample with you to your appointment. If Alaska tested positive for panleukopenia also called feline distemper that is causing the diarrhea. I would recommend taking him to the veterinarian for medications for the diarrhea. It is important it resolves to prevent dehydration and Alaska getting sicker. You can try an over the counter probiotic by it might not be strong enough. Hope that helps

She is cute! She could have an infection or a parasite. You could take a stool sample to your vet and have it tested for parasites. If she hasn't been dewormed then an intestinal parasite is a definite possibility and your vet can prescribe a dewormer. She might also need some fluids to prevent dehydration. You could also add a probiotic to her food and see if that helps. Hope she gets better soon!

Poor girl. At her age, I would be most concerned about intestinal parasites or viral or bacterial infection. I would recommend a vet visit ASAP since she's have vomiting and diarrhea and could become dangerously dehydrated or hypoglycemia at her age.

Have you changed any of her food ? If so, it could just be the diet change as her tummy is still quite delicate and immature and it can take time and a few tummy upsets to get used to all the food ingredients. If no food has been changed, then I wonder if Pompom has been treated for worms. All kittens need to be treated for worms regularly, using a safe product dosed for her weight. You will have to take her to see a vet to get the right product for her. With regards to her food, just remember to change her diet gradually.

Poor Luna. The dark urine could be due to her being dehydrated, which could be caused by the vomiting. Vomiting could be cause by a GI illness, eating something rotten, a foreign body, or pancreatitis to name a few causes. She may be peeing everywhere the house due to feeling ill. This cannot be treated at home, you need to take her into a vet immediately.

Specifically diarrhea that is yellowish in color is often indicative of coccidia which is a parasite of the small intestine. It is possible it's something else like other parasites, dietary problem, etc. I don't know of any over the counter medicines for coccidia so you will have to consult with your vet and have Luna evaluated before they can prescribe medicine for her. They will be able to evaluate her and run a fecal exam then decide on the treatment. I hope see gets well soon.
