My kitten has yellow, mucousy diarrhea. Could it be parasites?

She is cute! She could have an infection or a parasite. You could take a stool sample to your vet and have it tested for parasites. If she hasn't been dewormed then an intestinal parasite is a definite possibility and your vet can prescribe a dewormer. She might also need some fluids to prevent dehydration. You could also add a probiotic to her food and see if that helps. Hope she gets better soon!

In a close area it is easy for parasites to spread, especially if the cats use the same area to go potty. I would recommend taking 1-2 cats to the vet and bring fresh poop samples so they can look with a microscope. If none are found, they may need to send the sample to a lab to look for a more rare parasite called tritrichomonas. This is usually found in a larger cat group and can come and go but it isn’t as common. Once a diagnosis is made, they may be able to get medications to get the cats treated. I would also clean up stool as often as you can to decrease spreading and clean littler boxes with soap and water daily. Good luck!

Poor Willow! This diarrhea could be caused by GI illness, Giardia infection, Coccidia infection, eating something rotten, a foreign body, or intestinal parasites. The yellow color indicates it's traveling very quickly through the GI tract. I would take her into the vet with a sample of her feces for an exam. The vet can examine her feces, do a physical exam, routine blood tests, and a urinalysis to diagnose what is causing her diarrhea, and can treat accordingly.

I’m sorry Luna is so sick. It sounds like she needs to see a veterinarian very soon. Young kittens do not have much reserve and can become dehydrated very quickly. Please take a fresh poop sample with you when you go to the veterinarian. They will likely want to look for intestinal parasites and possibly do some blood work to look for panleukopenia. This is concerning for intestinal parasites, especially in a kitten. GI parasites are not uncommon in kittens (and puppies), and can cause diarrhea +/- blood. I recommend consulting with your veterinarian to see if he/she can examine Yeti. Kittens can quickly become very dehydrated and ill since they are small. Your veterinarian may recommend a deworming medication to help treat any parasites/worms. I hope this is helpful!

Diarrhea is a very non-specific signs so I'm afraid the possibilities are numerous. Intestinal worms, inflammatory bowel disease, food sensitivity, allergic reaction, colitis from stress, diet charge or indiscretion (stealing people food, etc), toxin, or others are all on the list. For tonight, just gently clean her up with a baby wipe or tissue. You can apply a little lanolin or olive oil to soothe the rump. A little ice pack (wrapped in a paper towel or thin kitchen towel) pressed to the anus can help with the pain and inflammation as well. Best of luck to you and Luna!

I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment.
