Is 7-10 days too long to crate my kitten after neuter surgery?

It likely is just fine to take the cone off now. Cats are quick healers. However make sure you look at the incision site thoroughly for any areas that look troublesome and get them evaluated by your vet if seen. The Ecollar will need to stay on for a couple of days while the wound is initially healing, but as long as Dodger leaves the incision alone, you can take it off after four to seven days. It can take up to 10 days for the incision to fully heal, and if he is licking it excessively when the collar is removed, then it will have to stay on. He won't hurt himself in the collar, a lot of cats are annoyed by them, but it's important to make sure they aren't allowed to lick the incision. Licking in the incision will interrupt the healing process and will introduce infection into the area.

You should keep Ayden's activity restricted. He may not need to be crated but he should be kept in a bathroom with his litter box, food and water for 7- 14 days. Activity may delay healing. From what I can see in your picture I think everything looks good, but it can sometimes be difficult to evaluate from a picture alone. I typically recommend waiting at least 10 days until removing the e-collar but some vets might recommend more or less time. I think it would be best to follow your vet's instructions. If they didn't specify you should wait to remove the e-collar until you can contact them.

Hello. Most cats do very well after surgery, so as long as Haiku does not get too active tearing through the house, he can pretty much do his usual routine. There are no special requirements to aid in his healing other than to check the area for anything that looks unusual. He can clean the surgical area & will not harm anything. I would continue his pain medications at least for a day or so to make sure he has a normal recovery. If anything does concern you, contact your veterinarian immediately. Hi there! It's really important that your kitten takes it easy for approximately a week after neutering. Keep his activity as low as possible. The incisions will heal very quickly, assuming we are talking about a male cat. When you take him home your vet will give you detailed instructions to help guide you !

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Tristan! Mild redness and swelling is normal. If you want to repost pictures we can take a look. As for not using his litter box, he could be stressed. I would confine him for a few days with his litter box to retrain him to use it. Also then you can be sure he is urinating normal sized spots. There could also be some inflammation. If he still isn't using the litter box appropriately by tuesday call your vet, he may need more pain medications. For the next 2 days just be sure is is producing urine and eating. I hope this helps!
